Gallery space for your artwork that can be open 24/7 and as long as your website is up and running. This kind of presentation can give different perspective to your art ant it’s presentation.

This presentation could serve as a virtual copy of your actual gallery and provide your visitors with present or past artwork installations.

Navigation

  • Toggle 3D presentation from page in-set to full-screen mode.

  • Lock users from free rotation and zoom in the scene. This option can be completely hidden and force users only to use navigation provided by scene architect.

    However some scenes should let users to freely roam around and explore.

    Shortcut key: L

  • Display information tag for image. Provide information to users about real world measurements.

    Optional bounding box can further provide dimensional perspective about the object.

    Shortcut key: D

  • Arrows located at right and left edge of the presentation. These arrows move the camera into next or previous pre-defined location.

VR

  • Point right hand controller towards the ground and press controller trigger button. That will bring slowly spinning red(ish) tetrahedron to view and show your next location.

    To confirm your next location, press side controller button. (Thumb or middle finger) By pressing both buttons at the same time, your location will update to position of indicator.

  • With your left hand, point at a picture and press trigger button. This will show a small panel with image information in front of your left hand controller.

  • Press your left hand controller side button. This will bring up a scene menu with scene options. One of them is VR exit button.

    Point your right hand controller at the menu and you should see a white dot. Select button and use right hand trigger button to confirm your selection.

Behind The Scenes

Blender 3D has always been main source of 3D assets for this project. This demo and component update is focusing on further Blender integration with Dope VR system.

In the image below you can see helper objects in Blender scene that define position, rotation and scale information. Those points are exported in separate file and imported into the scene.

Then in the scene these points are linked through code to the artwork that will load as separate image file, then get framed with asset and adjusted to proper image size. After all these steps, framed image is placed on the wall.

Goal of this demo is to prove that this system can be fully automated and build to clients specification. Even providing the ability to create and export custom points for the walls.
